Video cards. Which is better: GDDR5 and 128 bit or GDDR3 and 256 bit?

Asked by michele warner

Everywhere, where I looked for information on this issue, it was written only about the fact that GDDR5 memory to some extent compensates for 128 bits.

So, to what extent? Worn out by choice.

Interested in the context of updating the video card for connecting one monitor 1920x1080, 60 Hz. I choose from options with 1024 MB on board. Thank.

GDDR3 transmits per beat (2 * bus width) bits. GDDR5 is twice as large. Therefore, there is no difference in the transfer rate. But different timings affect, because 128-bit GDDR5 will be faster, though not by much.

GDDR5 has working frequencies most often higher, although in your case you know better where to clarify.
those.
if (GDDR3Mhz * 2 & lt; GDDR5Mhz * 4) {
GDDR5 = true;
}
else {
GDDR3 = true;
